You are buying a sand cast yes they are hand made/molded cast aluminium upper and lower thermo housing and base including zinc plated bolts and washers, upper and lower gasket in a black powder coated finish. The base is thicker so no need for a thermostat housing spacer when running an Aussiespeed rocker cover.
Gasket surfaces are machined not run over a linishing belt.
These are cast from premium quality aluminium and surfaces are machined flat for positive sealing.
Accessories like heater fittings, temperature sensors can be drilled and tapped in the housing if required.
